Cialis

Cialis is a medication for men which is used to treat erectile dysfunction. The active ingredient is Tadalafil which dilates blood vessels and thus improves blood flow. Cialis is a longer-lasting treatment for erection problems when compared to other treatments which are often effective for just 4 to 6 hours. On average, the effect of Cialis works for between 20 and 36 hours, which is why it has been nicknamed the 'weekend pill'.

What is Cialis and what is it used for?

Cialis is a very effective erectile dysfunction treatment taken in the form of capsules. The capsules are available in different doses of 5mg, 10mg or 20mg.

Cialis is intended for the treatment of men who cannot achieve an erection during sexual activity, or who may not be able to sustain an erection effectively. This problem can arise because male erectile ability gradually decreases in older age.

In addition, this condition can also be caused by diseases such as diabetes, prostate and hormonal problems or cardiovascular disease. Psychological problems such as stress, anxiety or depression can also cause erectile difficulties. And the same also applies to certain medications or excessive use of alcohol and drugs.

    How does Cialis work?

Cialis is available in different doses. Cialis 10mg and Cialis 20mg capsules can be taken by mouth as required whenever sexual activity is anticipated. The effect then becomes noticeable some 30 to 60 minutes after taking the dose, and then continues to work for a day and a half. Sexual stimulation is necessary.

During sexual stimulation, Cialis helps relax and dilate the blood vessels bringing blood to the penis, which increases the blood supply. Meanwhile, the blood vessels which drain the blood away temporarily contract. This enhances the erection and means the penis remains firm.

Sexual stimulation is therefore important, because an erection will not continue throughout the entire period the capsule remains effective. Cialis only has an effect when there is sexual stimulation.

A second option is to take a lower Cialis 5mg dose on a daily basis. In these circumstances, it won’t be necessary to wait 30 to 60 minutes for the capsule to become effective.

With a daily Cialis 5mg dose, the medication will be continuously effective once sexual stimulation occurs. This dosage creates a situation in which spontaneous sex once again becomes possible. This is a suitable option for men with erectile dysfunction who want to have sex at least 3 times a week on average.

How should you take this medication?

Cialis capsules should be taken by mouth and swallowed whole with a sip of water. They can be taken with or without food, but where nausea or an upset stomach is experienced, it is recommended to take the capsule along with some food.

Use this medication for as long as required. One Cialis 10mg capsule can be swallowed whenever sexual activity is anticipated. If there is insufficient effect at this lower dosage, a Cialis 20mg dose can be prescribed. A capsule can be taken 30 minutes before sexual activity, though it is also possible to take one earlier than this, because the effects of one capsule can last for up to 36 hours.

The Cialis 10mg and Cialis 20mg doses are not suitable for regular, daily use. Where a continuous effect is required, a daily Cialis 5 mg dosage is recommended, with a set time for taking the medication. Never take more than one dose per day, because this would increase the chance of experiencing (too many) side effects.

Just like this medication, alcohol dilates the blood vessels, and this combination may cause dizziness. At first, try to drink alcohol in moderation to assess whether this causes any problems. Remember that drinking a lot of alcohol itself can often reduce the ability to achieve an erection. So more than a few glasses a week is not recommended when taking Cialis for erectile dysfunction.

Purchasing Cialis – do you need a prescription?

Cialis is available on prescription, and a doctor must determine whether the active ingredient Tadalafil is suitable for use. This will depend on the presence of other conditions, such as cardiovascular disease, or whether any other medication has been prescribed.

Cialis should not be used where there has been a heart attack or stroke in the last six months,.

In cases where there is a hypersensitivity to Tadalafil, this medication should not be used in future. A hypersensitive reaction presents in the form of skin rashes, hives and itching. If a hypersensitivity is detected, this information should be passed on to the pharmacy so that this medication is not prescribed again.
