Flixonase is considered to be a corticosteroid. Its active ingredient is called fluticasone. This is an adrenal cortex hormone which prevents inflammation and allergic reactions. Flixonase is administered through the nose by nasal drops or a nasal spray. It is prescribed for prolonged inflammations of the nasal mucous membrane, nasal polyps, hay fever and other allergies.

Flixonase is a medication which has an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects. Its active ingredient is fluticasone, an adrenal cortex hormone. Flixonase is thus a corticosteroid.
This product is available in the form of nasal spray or nasal drops.
It is prescribed to patients who suffer from hay fever and other allergies, nasal polyps or prolonged inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane.
Allergies, inflammations and hypersensitive reactions can cause various nasal symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, as well as sneezing and itching. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect, flixonase can reduce these symptoms.
It can take 1-7 days, or sometimes even longer, before its effect becomes noticeable.
The drug is applied through the nose and then works for 12 to 24 hours.
You should blow your nose before using flixonase. Nasal spray is available in a bottle, while nose drops are usually in an ampoule. Each must be shaken for each use.
When using a nasal spray, one nostril should be kept closed, while medication is sprayed into the other. The spray must be sniffed up immediately. Rinse the nozzle with water after use.
To administer the drops, the ampoule should be prepared and the drops delivered while bent right over with the head down – this can be done either standing or kneeling. The ampoule can then be placed in a nostril and squeezed until empty. After that it is important to keep your head in the same position for another 60 seconds.
Flixonase is only available on prescription.
